Kuopio is one of the national centres of expertise and an important university city. There are campuses in Kuopio, Joensuu, Varkaus, Iisalmi and Siilinjärvi. Higher education

Is provided by the University of Eastern Finland,, Savonia University of Applied Sciences ja Humak. The Savonia University of Applied Sciences has 40 bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in six fields of study, with a new minor in Wellness Business as part of the BBA programme. The University of Eastern Finland (Kuopio and Joensuu campuses) is, in turn, the most diverse university in Finland with 13 fields of study and 100 major subjects.

Vocational education

A wide range of vocational courses is offered by the Savo Consortium for Education and TrainingUpper Savo Vocational College and the Portaanpää Christian College. The training provided meets the skill requirements of employers and involves collaboration with a leading technology company, for example.

Arts, music and culture

Those interested in art, music and culture can study arts subjects at the Sibelius Academy, Savonia University of Applied Sciences and Kuopio Conservatoire.

Almost 20 upper secondary schools

The Kuopio region also has almost 20 upper secondary schools, including an upper secondary school for adults. In addition to the normal courses, these schools offer a variety of special upper secondary school courses. It is also possible to combine vocational and upper secondary school studies.
